RealtyCrunch is being acquired by The Real Brokerage Inc.

We are excited to announce that RealtyCrunch will be joining The Real Brokerage Inc.

It was almost a year ago (but it feels like 10) when I wrote this first blog post . We entered the industry as complete outsiders, we were not agents. We had no experience running a brokerage. However, we did come with a passion to just make the buy, sell or rent process easy! We came in having faced the pain as home buyers and investors and wanted to make it simple for that home buyer. We wanted to make it fun and not this dreaded miserable experience!

Real ( is a technology-powered real estate brokerage in 22 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. Real is on a mission to make agents’ lives better, creating financial opportunities for agents through higher commission splits, best-in-class technology, revenue sharing and equity incentives.

When I met with Tamir Poleg, the CEO and co-founder of Real a few years ago, two things were very clear from the start. We both share a passion for technology, along with a vision that the real estate industry could be vastly improved with better technology. We also believe that the real estate agent is at the heart of a successful to a real estate transaction, and if we improve the technology and tools for the agent and the consumers, we could improve the overall buying and selling experience. We’re excited to bring the knowledge we’ve gained at RealtyCrunch to Real and help the team at Real grow to new heights.

So we’re excited to bring the knowledge we’ve gained at RealtyCrunch to Real and help Real grow to new heights.

What does this mean for you as a RealtyCrunch user?

On 11th January 2021, we will be retiring the RealtyCrunch service. You will still have access to the platform and be able to download your data until the end of the month. If you are using our forms feature you will not be able to send new forms or sign forms using our service. We will offer you a bulk data download tool in a few days where you will be able to download all signed forms.

As part of the acquisition, Real is not acquiring any customer data. We will be deleting all data at the end of January 2021.

We are incredibly humbled and thankful for the support we got from agents and partners across the country, especially in a difficult 2020 year. We are proud of this decision and look forward to working hard to create new products that are as fun to use and used by 1000s of agents with passion!

Enjoy and tell us what you think!

Listing Marketing and Open House Platform

Today we are happy to announce our stab at our listing marketing platform. In our interviews with agents, we learned that agents need help managing and streamlining all communications from incoming prospects. There are two major source of prospective clients for agents

  1. Online (organic, ads and social media)
  2. People visiting open houses

Our marketing solution is absolutely the most comprehensive landing page you can build. From floor plans to 3D and virtual tours. We support external tools such as matterport and video players such as youtube or vimeo! Literally everything you can think of, all in one simple page.

Take a look at this link!

We have made is super simple for your clients to inquire and ask about your property. Every listing you put in the system generates a QR code that you can print and put in your open house!

Point your phone camera at see what happens!

Your prospective clients are presented with a simple form to fill up.

Once your prospects fill up this basic info, they are able to see your listing information.

On the other side, we give you (the agent) a simple way to connect with all your prospects and send them an update about your listing. Lets see how that happens …

All your prospects get an email with your update and the listing details in one nice simple email!

We of course let you download your prospect list in excel or csv format so you can upload it to any other platform you may use..

I am sure you are now thinking how do I create those pages and that seems like a lot of work! Our answer, it takes under 10 secs to make that page. All you have to do is use our browser extension and add it to the “my listings” wall we have built for you!

We believe this is the simplest and the most comprehensive listing marketing page you will find!

Looking forward to everyone using this new feature!

The Real Estate Operating System

5 months ago we started our journey perfecting the collaborative process of discovering properties and talking about them, you can catch up here ..

Today I am personally excited to elaborate on the next phase of our company!

When we started the company, we thought about a real estate journey as

  1. Discovery
  2. Education
  3. Decision buy/sell/rent
  4. Transaction

We took a stab at discovery and wrote all about it here

We have learnt a LOT and have iterated on the product quite a bit.

Between Jan 15th and now, the whole world was upended as Covid19 came along. It made us fundamentally rethink our product and strategy going forward. Most of what we are launching today was on our roadmap, we just had to rethink the timing. Today we are launching everything we wanted to do in June 2021. I am super proud of our engineering team, who spent countless hours coding and collaborating to achieve these results in under 3 months.

So here it goes…

We see a relationship between and agent and a “client” (buyer/seller) as a SUPER synergetic and a collaborative one. Let’s pick up where we left off, now that a client has picked a property to buy or sell, now what? Do you go back to email and texting? That does not really make any sense to us.. We started our whole journey to bring collaboration to real estate.

So here is what we built!

Once a client is ready to buy/sell/rent, with one click you can start a “transaction”

And you get this….

We have carefully and meticulously curated a series of steps that happen in a purchase/rental or a selling of a property.

Lets break this down in to pieces

At each step, you collaborate on

  1. Who is going to do the work!
  2. When?
  3. Have a detailed checklist (see below)
  4. Learn what you need to do know for that step in a transaction!
  5. AND Of course be able to chat with collaborators on each step!

Notice the detailed checklist and the “read more” next to it. Each of the check list item educates you on things you may or may not know! Buying/Selling/Renting real estate is a NON-trivial thing people do. It is a SUPER tedious and boring process, and we are trying to make this fun and informative!

RealtyCrunch will take care of all the messages, status updates, push notifications etc. EVERYONE can now stay on the same page!

As an agent you might say, “hey I have my own process!”.

Of course, We realize that.. enter “Transaction Templates”. Spend 10 mins with RealtyCrunch, create your own template and share that template with your clients! We build a very detailed template, however, we know there are subtle differences between doing a transaction in NYC vs LA, California! We will elaborate on this topic in a separate blog post, for now, enjoy our transaction feature!

Finally, it ends in our unified inbox, we wrote about it . All the conversations between properties, transactions across ALL your clients are consolidated in one SINGLE place. You WILL NOT miss a single conversation and you will have all the context you need to keep up with each conversation!

GIVE IT A GO, what do you go to lose? 🤷 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Wall chats and streamlined inbox!

We are learning as we go along, when collaborating over properties we learnt it was super helpful to be able put your chat and comments on each property. HOWEVER, when comes to general discussion such as “Hey guys I just put three more properties on the wall”, there was no good place for it.

Well now there is!

All real estate agent communication streamlined into one place!

Enter “Wall Chat”.

Chat about properties in one place!

With wall chats, you can now quickly pick the wall you want to leave a message for and just type away! All the collaborators on the wall will now get push notifications and emails and the conversations is still relevant and contextual!

As an agent, when you look at this view, you get a quick view into all the conversations with a specific family or a group of co-purchasers in one quick view.

Along with wall chat, you now also have a way to upload generic documents and files in the file vault for the wall.

Upload files and share with real estate buyers!

Give it a shot and send us some feedback!

Real Estate agents and Social Media Strategy

Social Media is one of the top sources of leads for Real Estate agents! How do you show off your expertise to the world via Social Media?

Here is a great little example

See the post here

Here we put together a post that is simple, “Best Steals in Chelsea under 2M”. We put a bunch of apartments (at that time :)) that we thought were great steals! Within minutes we were able to get buzz online and it took us under couple mins to put this wall together and make it available to the world.

Watch us build a wall under 2 mins! and share it to Social Media.

Now that you have built a wall, it simple. Click on “Share on Social Media” and follow the steps.

One thing to remember, follow your local real estate organization rules and share properties on social media responsibly!

What are you waiting for? Want to give that a try?

Real Estate agents and types of collaboration with clients

A typical collaboration between an agent and client is

  1. Agent sends clients properties
  2. Agent collaborates with clients on each property
  3. Agent exchanges files and scheduling for properties

At RealtyCrunch we pride ourselves in being able to do just that!

However, there are a few other concepts that we know have worked for many of our agents

Tour Walls

Another use case we have seen is Tour walls. Often times agents setup a tour for Saturday. They will go around town with the clients and see a number of properties. We suggest agents be prepared for it. Create a wall called “Saturday Tour” and put the properties that you want to tour on it. We encourage agents and clients to take notes, pictures right on our RealtyCrunch app. At the end of the tour copy the properties that still interest you to your “main” wall and keep this wall for your records! See below a screenshot of how you would go about doing that.. You have a property that has notes on it, simply click “Move” and move it back to your main wall.

Comp Walls

Often times clients will ask agents, can you send me a comp analysis? Its great to able to put a wall together and call it “Comp for XYZ address”. Add a bunch of properties on the wall and put comments on why you think each property on this wall is a comp. We know these comments and justifications on why this is a comp is one of the most important things to your clients. Here is a great example of a comp wall put together!

Go ahead try it out. Create some walls and see how your clients react!

Everyone loves a thoughtful organized process!

Real Estate agents team communication and collaboration

We designed RealtyCrunch to be the most effective way to communicate with your clients. However, as we talked to bigger teams we realized there were other ways teams were doing effective communication.

Look at the above wall, this wall is just like any other “my wall” but its ONLY shared with my co-brokers, team agents, and other team members.

We have seen agents create different kind of “team only” walls

  1. Properties that we have viewed
  2. Properties that are under priced
  3. Properties that are new on the market that the team likes..

Once you have created a private wall, you can now leave your notes and thoughts on each of these properties for future reference!

You can also archive them when they are no longer on the market and bring them back when the property comes back to the market. Your notes and files will be waiting for you right where you left them!

There are many reasons to have a private wall with JUST your team, find your own! Try it and collaborate with your team now!

Real Estate agents engage your clients with RealtyCrunch

Great, you have created a wall with RealtyCrunch? if not, checkout our youtube channel for help and create a wall now.

Once you have created a wall, it should look something like this..

You could just click on “Share with Client” and send it off! However, we recommend you do couple things.

  1. Add some comments and tell your client why you think this property is a great fit for them!
  2. Add some tags to narrow down their search for them.

Here is how you quickly at a comment. Just click on the property and type up a quick comment.

Here is how you quickly add some tags

This two little things will get your clients to focus and respond faster!

Go ahead give it a shot!

Real Estate and Social Media Marketing

One trend we have noticed consistently when we talk to agents is the “top agents” are getting a LARGE portion of their business through online networks and social media presence. That is a super valuable datapoint!

As a real estate business owner, you probably have accounts on one or many of these networks. You could post updates and announcements, however, how does it really get you new business?

The inherent nature of social networks is the virality, other wise known as “Friend of friend of friend”. Let’s take an example, if you have 500 connections on LinkedIn, your post would AT THE MOST reach your 500 connections. However, as a real estate agent, how many of your direct LinkedIn connections are in the market to buy or sell? Probably none.

Lets take our good friend John Tesser as an example.

His average posts of his looks like this ..

What does this mean?

This means, not only people connected to him see this post, but ALL the people liking, clapping, etc in these posts are now sharing this on their network (friend of friend).

Why is John able to achieve this and how can you do the same?

It is all about what are you writing/posting that is meaningful and worthy of a clap or a share? Write something interesting. Share something meaningful and useful. Something fun that is worth sharing with others in your network. Write something you would click “like”/”share” for..

Here is what we have see work the best on different social networks..

  1. Insightful (LinkedIn)
  2. Knowledgeable (LinkedIn)
  3. Fun (Instagram)
  4. Social/Family (Facebook)
  5. Get Lucky (Twitter)

Let’s talk Real Estate. Producing interesting Real Estate content is hard.. however with RealtyCrunch you can put something like this together in a matter of minutes.

Scott uses RealtyCrunch to make some really interesting content! He builds “walls” that exhibit his expertise and shows that he can actually curate apartments in this market that are worth looking at..

As a buyer or someone on his network, this is interesting content. It is something people click on, engage, look through beautiful apartment pictures and then probably might end up sharing/liking…

With RealtyCrunch you can build a wall under two mins and share on your network! Just spend sometime build a wall that is interesting and cool… here are some ideas

  1. Best apartments on the upper west side under $2M
  2. Private roof top apartments.
  3. Amazing bathrooms!
